CC Sabathia took out any anger for being snubbed as an All-Star by striking out 11 in seven shutout innings, Curtis Granderson homered twice and Derek Jeter moved closer to 3,000 career hits as the New York Yankees roughed up the Cleveland Indians.

Albert Pujols stayed on the bench in his first game off the disabled list. The St. Louis Cardinals had plenty without the three-time NL MVP. Matt Holliday homered twice hours after being picked to represent the National League in the Home Run Derby and Jaime Garcia had another stingy home outing in an 8-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night.

Darnell McDonald hasn't had much luck with his health or his hitting this season. The Red Sox left-fielder was feeling fine Tuesday night when he ended the game by throwing out Edwin Encarnacion at the plate on a disputed call as Boston held on for a 3-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Jason Varitek caught the ball then hurried off the field after umpire Brian Knight's out call.
