Worley helped beat the Florida Marlins 1-0. But the Phillies have no room in their rotation for the right-hander over the next 10 days, so after the game he was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

In 10 years, Austin Kearns has just two career hits against A.J. Burnett. He's made them both count. Kearns hit his first homer in 105 at-bats this season, a stunning three-run shot in the seventh inning off Burnett, sending the Cleveland Indians to a 6-3 win and spoiling All-Star shortstop Derek Jeter's return to the Yankees' lineup Monday night.

Chris Carpenter hit another high note in his midseason surge. The St. Louis Cardinals' pitcher insisted getting the better of Johnny Cueto provided no extra incentive. "I've said it all along," Carpenter said after working eight scoreless innings in a 1-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night.

Chris Young drove in the go-ahead run with a two-out single in the ninth and the Arizona Diamondbacks overcame a grand slam by pitcher Shaun Marcum and rallied from a five-run deficit to beat the slumping Milwaukee Brewers 8-6 on Monday. Arizona scored in every inning from the fourth through ninth after falling into a 6-1 hole to the best home team in the majors.
