Jake Westbrook only hoped his drive would stay fair. Turns out, Westbrook's big hit is keeping things interesting in the NL Central. Westbrook hit his first major league homer -- a grand slam -- to lead St. Louis to an 8-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night. "It's pretty special," Westbrook said.

Josh Beckett found a way to beat the New York Yankees this season, over and over again. The Red Sox right-hander pitched well enough for Boston to win 9-5 on Wednesday night, improving to 4-0 against the Yankees this season with a 1.85 ERA. Last season, his worst in the majors, he was 1-2 with a 10.04 ERA against his team's longtime rivals.

Chipper Jones had bad news for Derek Lowe after the pitcher hit his first career homer. "He has got a few more to go before he catches me," Jones said with a laugh. Two milestone home runs -- Jones' 450th and Lowe's first -- gave Atlanta the early lead and Lowe combined with three relievers on a three-hitter as the Braves beat the Washington Nationals 3-1 on Wednesday night.
