Giants' NL West deficit reaches 5 games (AP) Posted: 29 Aug 2011 11:03 PM PDT Tim Lincecum reached a new low this season and so did the San Francisco Giants' offense. At this rate, the defending World Series champions are going to need an incredible September to avoid missing the postseason altogether. Not even the memories of last fall's memorable title run are enough to get this team going now. |

Report: A&M notifies Big 12 of departure (AP) Posted: 29 Aug 2011 09:38 PM PDT Texas A&M has notified the Big 12 it will withdraw from the conference, according to a newspaper report. The New York Times said in a story posted on its website Monday night that Texas A&M President R. Bowen Loftin sent a letter to Missouri Chancellor and Big 12 board chairman Brady Deaton to inform the league it was leaving. |
