The Mavericks made their play, but the No. 2 seed in the West belongs to the Lakers. Kobe Bryant scored 36 points as L.A. beat the Kings 116-108 in overtime to set the playoff pairings.

Bryant's tying 3-pointer with 4.8 seconds left in regulation forced overtime, and the Los Angeles Lakers regrouped to hand the Kings a 116-108 loss Wednesday night in what might have been the last game ever in California's capital city.

Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo wears size 15 shoes and size 13 skates. He needed every bit of his height to beat the Chicago Blackhawks in the playoff opener. Chris Higgins and Jannik Hansen scored in the first half of the first period, Luongo made 32 saves, and Vancouver topped the Blackhawks 2-0 on Wednesday night to take the lead in the Western Conference first-round series.
